As tributes to urban planning go, well it’s not porcelain statuary, but it is uplifting that the new vehicle registration stickers in the city of Chicago feature the great Chicago planner Daniel Burnham surrounded by pictures of city landmarks and of Burnham’s famed 1909 “Plan of Chicago.”  A high-school student there designed the artwork to win a contest.

I already have a “Cal Ripken Hall of Fame”-tribute license plate on my car and plenty of sports logos grace vanity license plates out there on the road. But when famed urban planners begin showing up on vehicle registration stickers, perhaps pop-culture stardom for the field is right around the corner.
